Start Your Day Right

Your “Food for Thought”how you start your day says a lot about how the rest of it will go.

Remember that saying “woke up on the wrong side of the bed..”? It’s like how you feel first thing in the morning is a domino effect for the rest of your day.

So how can you start your day off right, energized, healthy, and feeling good, no matter how long you’ve slept?
With a 15 minute healthy morning routine.

Do this in the morning before you do anything else (about 10-15 minutes long). You don’t even have to leave your bed if you don’t want to. You can do it in silence or I think it’s more fun if you pick three different songs to listen to while you do this and when the song ends and next one starts that’s your cue to go to the next section. Here’s the breakdown of how to start your day off on the right foot:

  1. Movement
-Start with 3-5 minutes of movement
-you can even stay in bed if you want
-stretch, walk, dance, do yoga, just get moving
  2. Breath & Fire
-stand proud, feet hip width strong underneath you.
    -take 4 deep breaths
-do breath of fire (watch this video)
-this gets oxygen flowing to your brain to help wake you up, get you thinking clearly, and heart rate up and blood flowing
-do this until the song ends or for 90 breaths
  3. Ask for it
-stand proud, feet hip width strong underneath you.
-notice the energy flowing through you already from the quick breaths and visualize what ever you would like to feel or do for the day to happen. Ask the universe, God, the divine or whatever you believe in for what you want your day to be. Visualized a bright light radiating down over you and giving you that. Then visualized it coming up from the ground through the bottoms of your feet and flowing through your body like electricity.
-Ask for it and then visualized yourself being filled up with that. (3-5 minutes)
  4. End with Gratitude
-put your hand over your heart and be grateful for one thing about yourself (like your awesome dimples) and one thing outside of yourself (like your friend who bought you lunch the other day).THEN GO HAVE A ROCKIN’ DAY!

My girlfriend Rebecca Niziol calls this getting soul centered, Tony Robbins calls it priming, some other’s call it getting your head in the game. Whatever you want to call it there’s always these 4 elements and every morning that I do it, I feel so much better, productive, make better decisions and feel more focused. It sets my day up for success.

This week, I challenge you to commit to doing it for 7 days and you’ll be amazed at the results you’ll get!
