Making your own almond milk is super easy as long as you plan in advanced! In order for it to work, you’ve got to soak your nuts for at least 12 hours. They can actually soak up to 48 hours if you don’t have time to make the milk that day. I like to put them in water the night before and have it ready for the morning OR put them in water as I’m making breakfast, then they should be ready to make after dinner for the next day.

I prefer DIY almond milk because it doesn’t have any preservatives in it which can mess with your immune or digestive system. It also tastes better and since you have control over what’s in it, can make it more nutritious (like adding turmeric), which is better for your health (an awesome anti-inflammatory)!

DIY Almond or Nut Milk

  • pinch of salt
  • 4-6 dates (without pit)
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • "nut milk" bag or cheese cloth

  1. soak the nuts (make sure nuts are fully submerged in water) for minimum of 12 hrs up to 48
  2. rinse and refill water every 12 hours
  3. put rinsed nuts with fresh water and all other ingredients into blender
  4. blend on medium until everything is finely ground & looks creamy
